The duration of the course can be varied to meet individual needs. It is recommended that a minimum stay of four weeks is in the best interests of the student.
Programme of Study
All students are interviewed and graded on the first day to identify a course suited to their standard and requirements.
All courses are intensive. Students are given regular tests and, because they are placed in small groups, progress can be closely monitored. |

Examinations
Provided their stay in England is of sufficient duration, students can prepare and enter for the Cambridge KET, PET, First Certificate, CAE and CPE examinations at the local Open Centre. There is also the facility for entering the IELTS and the American TOEFL and TOEIC examinations.
Social Programme
Optional excursions are arranged and the local International Student Centre offers a variety of social events including parties, supper evenings, cultural visits and trips to places of interest.
Accommodation
Students are placed in carefully selected local homes in Central Bristol to live as a member of the family. This is to further their use of spoken English and to encourage participation in the English way of life. In this way the student will have "the complete English language experience" during his/her stay in England.
Accommodation Fees
Accommodation with a family is arranged by the Institute. The cost is £135 per week and includes a room, breakfast, evening meal and all meals at weekends.
Self-catering accommodation is also available, usually costing £105 per week.
There is a £5 per week supplement for high season accommodation: mid-June to late August.
Social Activities
Bristol has much to offer students while staying here.
There are several museums and places of historical and architectural interest. It is a lively city with theatres, sports & leisure centres, indoor swimming pools, tennis courts, a public golf course, cinemas, restaurants, bars and clubs.
The Bristol International Student Centre during the University term time offers a varied social programme for all foreign students staying in Bristol.
